CHAPTER HISTORY

REIAC became a national organization in 1994 when Jerry Monash, ongoing Southeast President, along with a strong institutional Board of Directors and sponsor support, expanded the original Los Angeles group by founding an Eastern U.S. Chapter headquartered in Atlanta. Subsequently, additional chapters were added in Boston, Chicago, Phoenix and San Francisco, and the Eastern U.S. Chapter became focused on the Southeast. As one of the most active REIAC chapters in the nation, the Southeast Chapter consists of a “Who’s Who” of senior commercial real estate principals featuring institutional quality educational programs and networking events.

MEMBERSHIP

REIAC membership standards are proprietary and determined by its directors. In general, membership is by invitation only and limited to individuals who are at senior management levels of well-established real estate investment entities. These entities must be acting as principals in the areas of acquisitions, dispositions, development, asset management and debt procurement.

Potential members must demonstrate the requisite experience, competence and ethics within their respective fields and have a desire to utilize their skills in a manner that will improve the community and the profession.

Bill Leffler
Vice President, Equity and Structured Finance

Bill Leffler is a Vice President in CBRE’s Multihousing Group, focusing on equity and structured finance transactions for new construction, renovation/repositions, acquisitions, partnership buy-outs and deals in any form of transition.

Prior to working exclusively with the Multihousing Group, Mr. Leffler spent nine years with the commercial side of the Capital Markets Group, with specific duties including arranging structured finance transactions involving high-leverage senior loans, mezzanine debt, preferred equity and joint venture partnerships, primarily for for-rent and for-sale residential and mixed-use urban infill developments. The transaction sizes ranged from $15 million to $166 million.

Prior to working with CBRE, Mr. Leffler was a Vice President at Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, where he arranged structured finance transactions involving senior loans, mezzanine debt and joint venture equity, primarily for condominium conversions and retail developments. He began his real estate career with Arthur Andersen & Co.’s real estate and business valuation group in Washington, D.C. He also worked with Chadwick, Saylor & Co., a boutique pension fund real estate advisory firm in Atlanta.

Mr. Leffler is also a member of the Real Estate Group of Atlanta (REGA), a non-profit real estate industry group dedicated to ongoing professional education and career development, where he served as past President and Treasurer.

Jerry is the Founder and current Executive Chairman of REIAC's Southeast Region and was responsible for expanding the original Los Angeles organization to a national group, when he created an Eastern U.S. Chapter in Atlanta in 1994. He has also served as REIAC Southeast’s President continuously for the past 30 years.

Jerry is a 40-year commercial real estate veteran. He has been directly involved in the acquisition, disposition and financing of more than $5 billion in transactions, spanning all of the major user and income property types throughout the country. As President of Lancet Realty Advisors, he leads dedicated national advisory teams focused on the acquisition, disposition and leasing of real estate for major corporations. Lancet’s largest long-term recent client is Walmart Realty.

In his most recent prior position as Executive Vice President, Investment Services, Jerry both created and managed international brokerage firm NAI Global’s national institutional Investment Services Group and its national loan sales platform. Prior to NAI Global, he was employed by MassMutual Life Insurance Co. and Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, Inc.(now known as Barings), its wholly-owned pension fund advisory subsidiary, where for a total of 10 years, he created and headed up their respective national and southeast regional dispositions programs.

In addition, he was CEO and Managing Partner of Broad Street Capital, LLC, an acquisition advisor to 43 European institutional investors; Senior Vice President at Love Funding Corporation, a national real estate lender; a full-time underwriting contractor for MortgageRamp (GMAC Commercial Mortgage) and Credit Suisse; and an investment sales broker at Grubb & Ellis.

Jerry is a graduate of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, a CCIM designee (former South Florida Regional Chapter head), a former member of the Honorary Board at Georgia State University's Real Estate Department and a long-time current member of Mensa, Ltd.

ALAN AGADONI
Lightbox EDR

Mr. Agadoni is responsible for leading all aspects of LightBox's Consulting and Engineering segment including product strategy, client engagement and strategic partnerships. He is a speaker and author on a broad range of environmental, health and safety issues such as site assessments and audits, regulatory compliance, radon, asbestos, mold and lead in drinking water. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the southeast chapter of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (REIAC) and he regularly directs public course offerings of the Environmental Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, and is a Certified Environmental Auditor and Registered Environmental Property Assessor.

JIMMY BARKIN
Dentons US LLP

Jimmy Barkin is a Partner at the law firm Dentons US LLP, based in its Atlanta office. Mr. Barkin focuses on commercial real estate and commercial real estate finance. He has extensive experience representing various types of lending institutions in a broad range of financing transactions, including conduit lending, REIT financing, construction lending and mezzanine financing involving a broad range of commercial real estate assets such as shopping centers, office buildings and apartment projects. A significant part of Mr. Barkin's practice involves representing REMIC trusts in connection with loan assumptions and modifications. He is also active in representing financial institutions in connection with the resolution of problem credits including remedy enforcement, loan restructurings and loan sales.

Mr. Barkin also spends significant time representing individuals and institutions in connection with the acquisition, development, and disposition of various types of commercial properties and loans secured by commercial properties.

PAUL BERRY
Mesa Capital Partners

Paul Berry joined Mesa Capital Partners in October 2023 as President and COO. In this role Paul is instrumental in Mesa’s capital raising, acquisitions, development, strategic planning, operations, and reporting. Prior to joining Mesa, Paul was Vice Chairman at CBRE. During Paul’s 24 years with CBRE he co-led the firm’s Southeast Multifamily Group, a team that completed $4 – 8B in annual transactions.

Paul’s focus centered on institutional-grade multifamily properties with values often above $100 million. Transactions included stabilized, pre-stabilized, pre-construction sales, condominium conversions, portfolios, mixed-use, equity raises, adaptive re-use, recapitalizations, and land sales in metro Atlanta and across the Southeast. Paul was a six-time inductee into CBRE’s Colbert Coldwell Circle recognizing the “Top 100” producers globally and a frequent “Top 10” investments honoree by the Atlanta Commercial Board.

Prior to CBRE, Paul held a regional position with Crocker Realty Trust helping the firm grow and operate its Southeastern portfolio through acquisition and development. Before Crocker, Paul held positions with USF&G Real Estate Advisors and a Bank of America predecessor. Paul began his real estate career at Trammell Crow Company.

Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from University of Virginia’s Darden Business School.

Paul serves on the board of REIAC, a real estate industry association and as Chairman of the board for City Springs Theatre Company.

WILL LOVELL
Stewart Title Guaranty Company

Will Lovell is the Business Development Officer of Stewart Title Guaranty Company-Commercial Services in Atlanta where he focuses on providing title services for commercial real estate transactions across the country and outside the United States.

Prior to joining Stewart Title, Mr. Lovell was a partner at Hartman Simons & Wood LLP where he assisted clients in all phases of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, loans, sales and leases.

Mr. Lovell is a member of the Georgia Bar and the Real Estate Group of Atlanta (REGA), a non-profit real estate industry group dedicated to ongoing professional education and career development.

Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Mr. Lovell obtained his B.A. at Vanderbilt University and his MBA/JD at The Ohio State University.

Phil Canzian
Crown Advisors

Phil is a Crown Advisors founding partner, responsible for client development, project management and direct recruiting for developers, investors, advisors, homebuilders and financial services providers. He manages search assignments from inception to completion and is actively involved in search strategy, interviews, referencing, candidate analysis, compensation negotiations and closure. Before joining Crown, Phil created, implemented and managed a real estate recruiting department within the Professional Services Division of the Southwestern Company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the Pennsylvania State University.

Phil serves on the board of directors for the Southeastern Chapter of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council and is a member of the organization’s Membership and program committees. He is active in the Pension Real Estate Association, National Multi Housing Council and National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.

Kevin Hurley
CBRE

Kevin Hurley is a Senior Vice President with the Southeast division of CBRE’s National Retail Partners (NRP). The NRP is the leading retail investment sales team in the country, backed by the most powerful retail and capital markets platforms in the world. The NRP’s local expertise, deep market knowledge and collaborative network allow them to deliver exceptional property sale outcomes and drive real value for their clients from coast to coast. Over the past five years, The NRP was responsible for more than $20 billion retail investment sales.

Based in Atlanta, Kevin focuses exclusively on sellers of institutional-grade retail properties and oversees the marketing process of each asset. Since joining CBRE in 2010, Kevin has completed over $11.2 billion in retail transactions, spanning over 715 million square feet. He has experience in portfolio and single-asset retail transactions throughout the throughout Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee and beyond. Kevin received his Bachelors in Business Management, with honors, from the Georgia Institute of Technology along with Finance and Real Estate certifications.

He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors and REIAC.

David Meline
Cushman & Wakefiled

David Meline is a Vice Chairman within Cushman & Wakefield’s Capital Markets Investment Sales Group. With his partner, Stewart Calhoun, Mr. Meline leads a twelve-person, Atlanta-based team that specializes in capital markets advisory for office and industrial investment properties throughout the southeastern United States.

With over 30 years of experience, Mr. Meline has led the disposition of over $30 billion of assets for many of the most prominent investors in the U.S. and abroad. He is a member of C&W’s Global Advisory Board, Sunbelt Leadership Team, and Atlanta Executive Committee.

Mr. Meline joined Cushman & Wakefield in 1991 as one of the three candidates selected nationally for the firm’s MBA Associate Program. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Meline was an Assistant Project Manager for Lowe Development Corporation in Los Angeles from 1990 to 1991 and a Real Estate Specialist for Coopers & Lybrand in Boston from 1986 through 1989.

Tyler Keenan
Dentons US LLP

Tyler Keenan is a member of Dentons’ Real Estate group, where he focuses on the acquisition, financing, leasing, development and disposition of commercial real estate.

Tyler has represented national and global entities as lead counsel in multi-family, office, retail and mixed-use transactions, which projects include joint ventures, ground-up construction, development and financing, easements and declarations, triple-net and ground leases, and related due diligence, title and survey review.

Prior to focusing on transactional law, Tyler litigated complex commercial disputes providing him with a well-rounded perspective into best practices for reducing risk and legal liability exposure.

Bryce Nations
Frazier & Deeter

Bryce Nations is a Partner in Frazier & Deeter’s Tax Practice, specializing in complex tax returns and client tax compliance for federal, international and multi-state tax engagements. He excels in structuring and executing multi-state, tax-deferred real estate exchanges, handling multi-state tax compliance, real estate debt workouts, inbound investment in U.S. real estate and timber and tax planning for various taxpayer transactions. Bryce's expertise lies in serving high net-worth individuals, flow-through entity structures, foreign institutional investors and closely held businesses.

With a focus on real estate and timber investment companies, Bryce's clients include some of the largest in the country. He actively contributes to FD's Real Estate Group and the Closely Held Businesses Group, leveraging his industry experience in investment funds, timber, REITs, technology, professional services and real estate.

In addition to his client service role, Bryce takes charge of training and supervising associates on tax engagements. His background in public accounting and finance, combined with his exceptional interpersonal skills, complements FD's diversified Tax Practice.

Lissette Rivera-Pauley
Regions Bank

Ms. Rivera-Pauley is a Senior Vice President at Regions Bank in Atlanta, Georgia, where she is responsible for Commercial Real Estate Industry Analytics and Market Research for the Income Property Finance Group. Ms. Rivera-Pauley has 25+ years of broad experience in Banking and Accounting and has worked in a wide variety of fields including Asset Based Lending, Commercial Real Estate, C&I, Large Corporate Syndications and Financial Reporting.

Ms. Rivera-Pauley's previous positions have also covered a wide variety of institutions, including Barnett Bank, Wachovia, SouthTrust, SunTrust, EverBank, Community & Southern Bank, Keybank and Bank of America.

Ms. Rivera-Pauley is actively engaged in the industry and community serving on the following Boards and committees

Ms. Rivera-Pauley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida, an MBA in Finance with dual concentrations in Finance and Operations Management from Rollins College, and a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.

Bobby Norwood
JLL

Bobby is a Senior Director in the Atlanta office of JLL Capital Markets, Americas. He joined JLL as part of the HFF acquisition and has over 18 years of experience in commercial real estate finance. He is primarily responsible for debt and equity placement transactions throughout the United States.

Bobby specializes in debt and equity placement for Industrial acquisition, development and recapitalization. He also places JV equity for multifamily development. Since joining JLL, he has placed over $1.6B of debt in markets across the United States. In the fast-growing Savannah, GA industrial market, Bobby has capitalized nearly 30M SF.

STEVE REINSTEIN, CEO
Long Beach Judicial Partners

Stephen Reinstein is CEO of Long Beach Judicial Partners LLC, Meridiam Infrastructure’s project company, which has a signed a long-term contract with the State of California’s Judicial Council to finance, design, build and operate and maintain a new 545,000 SF courthouse in Downtown Long Beach, California. This project represents the first availability-pay, social Public Private Partnership to reachfinancial completion in the United States. With a total capital value of $495 Million, this development program includes 31 courtrooms, holding cells and administrative space for the Superior Court, 100,000 square feet of office space for five Los Angeles County justice agencies and 5,000 SF of retail space, as well as a 1,000 space parking structure renovation. Construction of this unique fast track, design-build project commenced in Spring 2011, with occupancy scheduled for Fall 2013.

With over 30 years of commercial real estate industry experience, Mr. Reinstein has played instrumental roles in financing or implementing many innovative development projects throughout the U.S. for Metropolitan Life, Homart Development, the Howard Hughes Corporation, Regent Properties and ICO Development. Mr. Reinstein’s background includes full cycle development of approximately Three Million SF of “from the ground up” and “value add” projects at a cost of over $400 Million, as well as extensive acquisition, investment, entitlement and public private partnership experience.

Mr. Reinstein holds a BA from Duke University, a Master of City Planning from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School. He is a founding Board Member and former Chair of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Photographic Arts Council.
