Jerry Monash, President
NAI Global
Jerry is the Founder and current President of REIAC’s Southeast Region and was responsible for expanding the original Los Angeles organization to a national group, when he created an Eastern U.S. Chapter in Atlanta in 1994.
Jerry has been in the commercial real estate industry for over 28 years and is currently Executive Vice President, Investment Services for NAI Global, one of the world’s largest commercial real estate service providers with 5,000 professionals and 325 offices in 55 countries. Jerry heads up NAI Global’s Investment Services Division and its Loan Sales initiative.
Prior to his affiliation with NAI Global, he was President of Lancet Realty Advisors, Inc., an acquisition, underwriting and due diligence firm; CEO and Managing Partner of Broad Street Capital, LLC, acquisition advisor to 43 European entities; Senior Vice President of Love Funding Corp., a national CMBS lender; and Director of Real Estate Investment and Vice President at MassMutual Life Insurance Co. and Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers (its pension fund advisory subsidiary), respectively.
Jerry is a graduate of the University of Miami, a CCIM designee and a member of the Honorary Board at Georgia State University’s Real Estate Department.

Mr. Paper is an Associate Director with the Real Estate Investments area of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in MetLife’s Atlanta Regional Office located in Buckhead. Mitchell Powell, Treasurer
The Integral Group LLC
Mr. Powell is Chief Financial Officer of The Integral Group LLC, a vertically integrated, urban focused, Real Estate Development and Investment Management Company based in Atlanta. Integral has developed some 30 multi-family and mixed-use projects in 10 markets nationally, with the highest concentration in the Southeast. These developments represent nearly $2 billion of real value; comprise 6,600 rental units, 2,400 for-sale units and 450,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. At Integral, Mitch is responsible for the accounting, finance, risk management and IT functions. Previous to Integral, he held several positions related to the investment management of various Rockefeller real estate interests. Before that, it’s kind of a blur, but he’s pretty sure he started his career in public accounting with KPMG specializing in real estate and partnership taxation. Before that, he tanned and played tennis. Mitch is a CPA, and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Jon Smalley
Berkadia Commercial Finance LLC
Mr. Smalley was raised in Kansas City, MO and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1991 with a Bachelors of Human and Environmental Science degree. After brief stints as a whitewater raft guide and as a 2nd Mate on a luxury yacht in the Caribbean, Mr. Smalley returned to Kansas City to join the family’s real estate management and brokerage business. In this role he supervised the management of several apartment communities. During this time he expanded into commercial mortgage underwriting and loan origination which eventually transitioned into his fulltime career. In 1999, Mr. Smalley accepted a position in Atlanta, GA with a national commercial real estate lender, GMAC Commercial Mortgage (GMACCM). GMACCM was eventually purchased by a Wall Street equity fund and became known as Capmark Finance, Inc (Capmark). In December 2009, a joint venture led by Berkshire Hathaway purchased the mortgage banking and loan servicing asset of Capmark to form a new company call Berkadia Commercial Mortgage, LLC (Berkadia).
Mr. Smalley has been with Berkadia and it’s predecessors for over11 years as a Mortgage Banker. He has been an active member of REIAC for 5 yrs. Mr. Smalley arranges multi-million dollar financings for his commercial property owner clients across the US. He has been in this industry for nearly 20 years. During his career he has developed relationships with prominent local, regional and national real estate developers and investors. Mr. Smalley has expertise in financing most property types including industrial, office, retail, hotel, mini-storage, multi-family and student housing.

John Beam

John is co-founder and managing Partner of New Capital Source Partners, LLC. (NewCap). He is a native of Atlanta with 30 years’ experience in management, commercial real estate evaluation, institutional investment, acquisition, disposition, finance and mortgage banking. Mr. Beam is also under contract with Kim King Associates, one of Atlanta's premier real estate companies, to initiate an asset management support system.
Previously, Mr. Beam served as Senior Vice President and Manager of the Atlanta Region with Capmark Finance Inc. (GMAC Commercial Mortgage until it was acquired by Capmark in 2005) where he was vote in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2004 Who’s Who in Real Estate Finance and also its 2005 through 2009 Who’s Who in Commercial Real Estate. There he supervised company mortgage bankers who produced well over $3 billion in loans during the last 8 years. Also, he partnered with David Stuart in the highly successful GMACCM Small Loan Program (SLP), a fully integrated securitized lending platform for small-balance loans (see description enclosed).
Before joining GMACCM, Mr. Beam was the President of Insignia Mortgage & Investment Company, Inc. (IMIC) and for seven years served as an executive officer of parent company and NYSE member Insignia Financial Group, Inc. (IFC), a public real estate holding company. As an IFC subsidiary, IMIC performed mortgage banking and property brokerage for its own accounts and third-party clients, originating $4 billion in mortgage loans and $500 million in property brokerage from nine Southeast and Mid-Atlantic offices during its 12-year history. In 1992, Mr. Beam through his IMIC responsibilities was the financial advisor for the mortgagor in the SASCO 1992-MI securitization of 55 multi-family loans in the amount of approximately $262 million—the industry’s first large non-crossed pool to be securitized without credit enhancement. As President of the predecessor company Shelter Mortgage & Investment, he co-created and initiated in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, the PruExpress Loan Advisor exclusive correspondent program for the Prudential Insurance Company of America in 1987. Prudential used this model to spread the program nationally, incubating such companies as Johnson Capital Group, Inc.
Other past institutional real estate experience includes eight years with MetLife’s Atlanta regional office. Responsibilities included asset management and underwriting of major joint ventures with the Ritz-Carlton, Marriott Corporation, Lincoln Property Company and the Paragon Group.
Mr. Beam is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science, holds a Certificate in Real Estate (CRE) designation from the university, and is on its Real Estate Honor Board. He is a past member of the national Society of Real Estate Appraisers, a Board Member of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (REIAC), and a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA).

Julian Diaz III
Georgia State University - Professor of Real Estate
Julian Diaz III, Ph.D., RICS, holds the rank of full professor at Georgia State University and currently serves as chair of the Department of Real Estate. He is the Richard Bowers and Company Professor of Real Estate and teaches investment, development, and quantitative methods courses in the master’s and doctoral programs. His research interests are in real estate decision making where he has developed theory and methodology to investigate behavioral questions. Paul Berry

Paul Berry focuses on Class A and institutionally owned multi-family property sales as well as
multi-family land and development assignments. While many of these assignments involve
metro Atlanta properties, others are regional and national in scope. Mr. Berry's past
transactions include new property lease-ups, major repositionings, condominium conversions,

Brian Olasov

Brian Olasov is a Managing Director at the law firm McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, based in its Atlanta and Washington, D.C. offices. Mr. Olasov provides business and capital markets consultation services to the finance and corporate departments, as well as analytical support for the litigation department developing damage estimates and modeling economic arguments for use in negotiations and litigation. He
often works with the CMBS servicer clients of the firm in complicated restructurings, PSA compliance and breach claim issues. He is frequently retained as an independent expert witness in disputes involving structured finance, mortgage-backed securities servicing and credit risk. He has been qualified to testify as an expert in various valuation and loan servicing issues in residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities litigation.
Mr. Olasov is quoted widely in the national press on issues involving the banking industry and the government's response to the credit crisis. He has served as an adjunct professor at Emory Law School and guest lectured at the graduate real estate programs of Georgia State University, Columbia University and the Wharton School of Business. He recently spoke before the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as part of its visiting scholar series, where he discussed the state of the commercial real estate market and bankers' responses to current conditions. His publications include a co-authored chapter on MBS Servicer Litigation in Mortgage-Backed Securities Litigation (Westlaw, 2008).
While on assignment in London, Mr. Olasov researched the feasibility of developing commercial mortgage-backed securities markets in Europe. He also organized the European chapter of the Commercial Mortgage Securitization Association ("CMSA"), a trade group that promotes the development of increased liquidity in commercial real estate markets. During business school, Mr. Olasov worked in the research area of the Federal Home Loan Bank where he designed empirical models to test bank solvency and lending behavior leading to published research on the root causes of the banking crisis. Before business school, he worked in the fixed income securities department of a major Wall Street investment banking firm, where he developed the Situation Analysis, a comprehensive report that analyzed and projected bank’s balance sheets and asset liability and credit risk exposures with investment, capital and lending recommendations in addition to modeling mortgage-related structured finance products. Prior to Wall Street, he served as a commercial loan portfolio manager and commercial mortgage lending officer with a regional southeastern bank.

Bill Timmons

Bill Timmons is head of the Real Estate practice group and works on a broad range of real estate matters including finance, acquisitions, leasing and development transactions.
